The latest Gemini skin redesign gives you access to more infoboxes and the Tools menu anywhere on Android.
Update 3/12: Google is now widely rolling out this new Gemini cover. We see this with the 17.8 stable version of the Google app. Make sure to force quit from App info if you haven’t already.
Original 2/26: This redesign adds a Gemini Tools menu to the pill-shaped overlay. It appears to the right of the “plus” sign for attachments, unchanged today. The “Ask Twins” sign is centered to make room.
Old and new

Click lets you create images, videos, and music, as well as use Canvas, Deep Research, and Guided Learning. Google AI subscribers will see the Personal Intelligence link. This design is almost identical to what you find in the Gemini app, but now you get descriptions for each tool.
- Create an image: Visualize and edit
- Create a video: Bring ideas to life
- Create music: Make music with Gemini
- Canvas: Create Vibe code programs or documents
- Deep research: Get detailed reports
- Guided learning: Study and learn new things
As you type, you’ll notice that the top layer changes from a pill to a two-line, rounded rectangle. All that’s missing is a model changer.
We see this redesign in the latest Google app beta (version 17.7). It is not rolling out to all Google Accounts and is still in the process of rolling out.
Google is also testing new floating pill For Gemini Live, which we saw earlier this month.
