I will go on record saying that the Oscars are my favorite award show in pop culture. To me, it’s like watching a championship game in sports. Even though I missed Michael B. Jordan winning Best Actor, you better believe I filled out the ballot to see if I could guess the biggest upsets of the night. 2026 Oscars.

Ray
Jamie Foxx’s sensational portrayal of music icon
The success of a musical biopic depends on the performance of its star. It sounds obvious, but many biopics suffer from the star’s lack of charisma or musical incompetence. A play works when the audience believes that the actor has become his subject. Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles in 2004 Ray it’s one of the most powerful portrayals of the singer I’ve ever seen

Ray A chronicle of three decades of Charles’ life. It begins with his childhood in poverty, continues with his rise to stardom as a musician, and culminates with his drug addiction in the 1960s. From his trademark sunglasses and wide smile to his constant jitters and piano prowess, Foxx is the living embodiment of Charles. Although the film used many of Charles’ original recordings, Foxx deserved this Oscar.
Ray He received six Oscar nominations in 2005, winning two: Best Actor (Foxx) and Best Sound Mixing.

Glory
A star is born
Edward Zwick was fighting the American Civil War in the 1989s Glory A drama centered around Colonel Robert Gould Shaw (Matthew Broderick) and one of the first officially recognized African-American regiments for the 54th Union Army. At first, Shaw is an outsider struggling to gain the trust of the Black unit, especially Trip (Denzel Washington). Over time, Shaw begins to sympathize with these men and sympathizes with them in hopes of receiving better treatment than the army they join.
Fame not best war movie ever always and fair to criticize Fame for speaking through the eyes of an African-American regimental white officer. It doesn’t take away from the performances of Morgan Freeman and especially Denzel Washington, who won his first career Oscar. Even then, it was clear that Washington would go on to become a movie star, so thank you Glory to raise the profile of a generational performer.
In 1990, he was nominated for five awards at the Oscars. Glory Won Best Supporting Actor (Washington), Best Cinematography and Best Sound.

Rome
A solid story about family
It comes with overwhelming success GravityAlfonso Cuaron rode the juice of winning the 2018 directing Oscar for his most personal film. Rome. It is set in Mexico City in the early 1970s. Rome Yalitza Aparicio plays Cleo, a maid for Antonio (Fernando Grediaga) and Sofia (Marina de Tavira). Cuarón centers the story around family to delve deeper into themes of social status, gender inequality, and abandonment. photo of Sofia and her children hug Cleo on the beach brings tears to my eyes.
Cuaro becoming the first person to win best director and best cinematography at the same ceremony should have been the main story of the Oscars. However, Green book hurts Rome For Best Picture, it’s what people will remember the most about that night.
At the 2019 Oscars, Rome It received 10 nominations and won three: Best Director (Cuarón), Best Foreign Language Film and Best Cinematography (Cuarón).

Ex Machina
Beware of AI
Many of Alex Garland’s films revolve around the idea that people are their own worst enemies. At least that’s what he believes in his perfect scenarios. He is certainly wary of toxic masculinity and its dangers to society. I mean, this is the director who made the movie called Men. I still believe Garland’s best directorial effort was her 2014 debut Ex Machinaa sci-fi thriller about a man’s attempt to determine the level of consciousness of a robot.
Programmer Caleb Smith (Domhnall Gleeson) is hired into CEO Nathan Bateman’s (Oscar Isaac) secluded home to administer the Turing Test for humanoid robot Ava (Alicia Vikander). Garland was ahead of his time in his portrayal of artificial intelligence and the god-like technological brethren who control it. Even if you ignore the real-world parallels, you’ll enjoy the compelling story with its eyebrow-raising ending.
He was nominated for two awards at the 2016 Oscars. Ex Machina It won Best Visual Effects.
