Microsoft’s full-screen Xbox mode is coming to all Windows 11 PCs to make the gaming interface feel more console-like. It is now available on laptops, desktops, tablets, gaming consoles and other devices.
Xbox mode gives you a full-screen, fast interface to explore your titles, and it’s optimized for controllers, making it easy to browse and download games on any device.
You can browse your full game library, including titles from Xbox Game Pass or games from other third-party PC storefronts. For example, titles purchased through Steam will appear in Xbox mode alongside titles you’ve purchased from Microsoft or downloaded through Game Pass.
You can easily switch between Xbox mode and Windows 11 depending on what you need to do with your device. This can make it easier to manage other projects and a gaming session at the same time.
A version of the Xbox mode debuted earlier in the preview ROG Xbox Ally handheld devices. Microsoft he says it’s been listening to feedback since the full-screen experience was first launched and will continue to expand it with new ideas.
Xbox mode is part of the latest Windows 11 update, which has been rolling out since April 30. Microsoft says that some players can enable the feature now, while others will see it appear “over the next few weeks.”
Microsoft recommends turning on notifications for new Windows 11 tools, so you know when Xbox mode is coming.
