Key Launcher it doesn’t look like any other Android launcher I’ve used it before and that’s certainly saying something. It’s inspired by the T9 keyboard layout, the physical buttons you’d find on modern dumb phones and semi-smartphones of yesteryear. Not only does it sound very interesting, but how the launcher implements this design is really exciting.

For starters, the on-screen keyboard acts as a quick search feature and, inspired by the T9’s predictive smarts, allows me to find apps with just a few keystrokes. It also hides a number of other features, such as the vault, speed-dial-like shortcuts, and focus mode.

What is the most important aspect of Android launcher design for you?

Key Launcher stands out as a home screen that focuses on shortening the journey for almost every user action and offers enough customization for those who enjoy it.

Note that Key Launcher is free to try, but many features are either feature-limited or time-locked. You must pay for the premium level of the app to get full access indefinitely.

Gradient Weather

A great weather app with smart alerts.

  • Price: Free / in-app purchases starting at $3.49
  • Developer: subtle signals

Gradient Weather perhaps the most beautiful Android weather app I’ve seen it for years. Its clean Material-feel design is colored by the weather itself, making its aesthetic a practical feature. When it comes to spreading important details, Gradient relies on a lot of widgets to get the job done.

Above, you’ll find basic conditions, including the current temperature and how it feels. Below, the hourly forecast and 7-day forecast bubbles detail future key parameters, while a larger Today section with a selection of indicators can be found at the bottom of the main screen.

Gradient Weather also includes a nice alert system that lets you set custom alarms based on conditions and criteria. It also offers a map view of conditions and a user reporting system to add a more social element.

Alpine lines

Mini Metro but for those who enjoy snow.

  • Price: Free
  • Developer: Small Halteres

Alpine Lines is a quirky, minimalist driving game set on the slopes. It starts out relatively simple – you connect different gondola stations on a topographical map to help skiers across. But this is only the main idea.

The game can quickly turn into a big operation on the snow, with skiers creating huge queues and prompting you to change routes and plans.

It’s surprisingly calming, but challenging and really pushes the gray matter organization and puzzle-solving department. Alpine Lines should also run on most devices given its relatively light weight and requirements. Best of all, the game is free to play, ad-free.

LibrePods

The popular AirPods middleware has finally arrived on the Play Store.

  • Price: Free

LibrePods is by no means a new app; however, it was recently released on the Play Store, opening it up to millions of new potential users.

The app lets you use Apple’s exclusive audio technology on Android devices, including Google Pixels, OPPO and OnePlus phones. As a result, users who own these devices can use their AirPods’ conversational awareness smarts, gesture controls, and more. they can enter.

Nightly builds are still available on the project’s GitHub page, but LibrePods’ availability on the Play Store is great for those who crave a reliable channel for updates or want to install it on a less technical user’s phone.

Sea of stars

2023 is a great Android port of the classic RPG.

  • Price: $9.99
  • Developer: Playdigious

Finally, let’s wrap up this week with a port, a rather brilliant one.

Sea of Stars was relaunched on PC and consoles in 2023, so fans have been waiting a long time to welcome the game to mobile devices. Finally, that day came.

The RPG has the player control one of two characters, Valere or Zale, in a battle against a big bad known as the Fleshmancer. The game also offers a large world, gorgeous visuals, intricately detailed environments and turn-based combat, while its controller compatibility makes Sea of Stars playable on more comfortable hardware.

The game doesn’t offer a free trial, so it’s a contract to buy.
