Look, it’s Friday. OpenAI updated Codex. There are Tamagotchi-style pets. You can do it yourself. Lil Finder hovers over Guy Dock.
This is when Codex truly becomes a super program
The new /pet feature within Codex is really for fun.
You can type “/pet” to show or hide one of several playful little critters — for some reason there are no goblins – or do it yourself.

Codex pets are like little Dynamic Ada-ish messengers that tell you what Codex is doing in the background while you’re using your Mac.
They’re cute, it’s the weekend, everyone wins.
Perhaps the most practical aspect of Codex’s new pets feature is that it gives people who value their virtual animation friends a new reason to try Codex. The worst case scenario is that you end up doing something productive.

Or in my case you’re a bit of a stickler, spend a few minutes The main Apple Guy websiteanswer a few questions, cook a pot of rice on the stove, and suddenly Lil Finder Guy hovers over the actual Finder icon with the message to share:
“Here’s to the little ones. The square pegs on the dock. The blue-and-white dreamers. The little helpers who wave and wave and fall asleep and lighten the load. Here’s to the Codex pets.”
Thaaaat is probably my cue to touch the herbs. Wait, it’s raining. Even better.

In the meantime, you can play with Codex pets and learn how to create your own pets here.
