As the 2026 F1 season lands in Miami for the first of three US races during the year, Apple SVP of Services and Health Eddy Cue spoke to the press about the company’s growing involvement in the sport, including John Ternus’ passion for racing. Here are the details.
Cue says Ternus will strengthen Apple’s ties to F1
As reported ReutersEddy Cue told reporters at the Miami Grand Prix that he “hopes and expects” a sequel. F1: The Movie.
His statements come a little after two months F1: The Movieproduced by Jerry Bruckheimer, he said BBC A sequel to Apple’s Academy Award-winning film is “officially in the works.”
This followed comments from Eddy Cue himself a few days agowhen he brought up the topic at Apple’s TV press day.
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, who was on stage with Cue at the time, told the press to “stay tuned” after Cue brought up a possible sequel in the conversation.
Back at the Miami GP, Cue also talked about Apple’s hopes of expanding its broadcast rights for F1 races globally.

“Sports are not licensed on a global basis,” he said. “I hope we can expand into other areas and markets? Yes, I do.
“But starting in the US, which is a big market for us, and being able to grow from there is definitely the right way to do it. And that’s where we’re focusing right now. The easiest way for us to continue to grow is to make sure we make it a huge success.
“And then, of course, expanding it would be great.”
Finally, Cue also noted John Ternus’s love of motor sports and claimed that Apple’s next CEO More into sports than Tim Cook:
“John really drives Porsches and does amateur racing,” he said. “He would actually be here this weekend, but he’s at Laguna Seca.
“So make sure he’s going to be in more races than even Tim. He’s a big, big fan of Formula 1 and he knows it, he’s a big supporter. So you’ll continue to have his full support.
