Two months after former director of Xbox programming Larry Hrib, better known to fans of Microsoft’s gaming ecosystem as Major Nelson. He was fired by the union After 18 months as director of community and advocacy, he announced that he is joining one of the most legendary brands in gaming history.
This brand is Commodore, which long-time gamers and tech enthusiasts will recognize as the company responsible for the 1982 Commodore 64 or C64. To date, it is the best-selling computer model of all time, with estimated sales of between 12.5 and 17 million units; not only did it serve as a home computer, but it was extremely popular for gaming and supported games on floppy disks, cartridges, and even cassette tapes.

Simpson also reflected on the pickup, admiring Major Nelson’s achievements on Xbox: “Through blogs, podcasts, social media and events, Larry pioneered direct communication with gamers long before such engagement became the industry standard.”
“Bringing Larry on board to support the continued engagement with the fans that keep Commodore alive, while also welcoming a new generation of fans, is a natural next step for us in relaunching the brand,” he said.
Especially Major Nelson clarified on social media, he plays seriously advice His role at Commodore and this new position is not his “full-time gig.” Currently, at least, it’s not open to the public; but he says he’s “still working on it.”
After that recently suggested the new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma It should focus on partnering with the Xbox community and then personally met with and many people posting about it on social media believe that he will return to Xbox next his first departure from Microsoft in 2023 to “take a step back and work on the next chapter of my career.”
Of course, it remains to be seen if Major Nelson really is does Back to Microsoft and Xbox, but it’s an exciting possibility. Even if not, it’s great to see him contribute to the revival of one of retro gaming fans’ favorite brands.

It’s great to see Major Nelson join the team bringing back the Commodore, but the fact that he doesn’t have a “full-time gig” begs the question: is he returning to Xbox? It seems very possible, but not confirmed by any means, so I’m interested to hear what you think.
