#1: Single rear glass and aluminum colors
Among the iPhone 17 Pro’s few design changes are the colors clearly was a huge hit and no one seemed to mind the full-width camera plateau.
However, one design decision was a bit more polarizing: the two-tone rear glass and aluminum.
Fortunately, Apple plans to address this with the iPhone 18 Pro.

#2: Dynamic island narrowing
After various conflicting early reports, we now have more clarity on what’s happening on the front of the iPhone 18 Pro. The screen sizes between the Pro and Pro Max models are expected to remain the same as their predecessors, but the front notch has been a big question mark.
While some earlier reports suggested that the iPhone 18 Pro will sport a punch-hole cutout instead of the standard Dynamic Island, recent evidence points to a smaller Dynamic Island design.
Rumor has it that there will be a new Dynamic Island about 35% smaller On the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
Some Face ID components have reportedly been moved to the bottom of the screen, but not all of them. So Apple isn’t moving to a punch-hole design — at least not yet.
#3: Bold new colors
Apple did something surprising with the iPhone 17 Pro: it offered bold, fun color options.
Cosmic Orange in particular was a huge hit, proving that Apple’s move away from the basic shades of white, black and gray was a good move.
Rumors suggest that the company plans to continue offering fun Pro colors with the iPhone 18 Pro. With sales still months away, there’s still a lot of uncertainty about what exactly these colors will be.
Macworld recently informed comes in four colors:
- Light Blue
- Dark cherry
- Silver
- Dark Grey
‘Dark Cherry’ color has been described by others like a mix of dark red, coffee, and dark purple. This is expected to be a very prominent choice in Apple’s marketing.
