TL; DR
- Google is working on a colorful new design for the interface you see when accessing your links.
- Compared to our first look at this update, Google has now added more colors as well as tidied up some irregular display elements.
- We also see this new look in preparation for your Play Points balance.
A bold design can go a long way to increase the usability of an app. While an interface dominated by text and menus may seem to provide the most benefit, clever use of color and shape can help make navigating even complex applications feel like second nature. A little over a month ago, we got an early look at some of the tracks Google Wallet was thinking about a colorful, bold upgrade because of the way it works with transmissions, and now we have some new developments to share.
Google Wallet already makes some good choices when it comes to color and uses it in the background for the transition UI to help you pick out all your different options. You won’t see this new look in the app just yet, but in Wallet version 26.18.910990572, we’re able to preview some of the more detailed, more colorful changes the app developers are working on:
Each link is still associated with a different color – making them easy to identify at a glance – but with this update, that color is now everywhere.
Compared to when we first got a look at this redesign at the end of March, the interface is now much more polished, and it actually looks pretty close to being ready for launch. Elements on each screen now transition smoothly between each other, without invisible stops and jagged edges where they don’t make sense. Now they all share the same colored background.
We also see progress on the Play Points screen:
Last time we also didn’t have a progress bar towards the next level of Play Points, which was replaced by a “Not Done” text box. It’s no longer available, but Google has cleaned up the background color and edge shape usage on this screen as well.
together with Improvements to wallet integration with Gmaillooks like we have quite a few improvements to look forward to from this app. At this point, we can’t say with any certainty when Google might make them live, but at least it feels like things are starting to get where they should be with the redesign of these links.
⚠️ Moment APK uninstall helps predict features that may come into service in the future based on work-in-progress code. However, it is possible that such predicted functions may not be publicly available.
