There is no doubt that Samsung’s latest smartphones perform incredibly well. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 It’s an amazing chip and I rarely have problems with mine Galaxy S26 Plus. However, not all Samsung phones are created equal, and I always take steps to keep my phone in top shape.
One way I do this is by frequently restarting my Galaxy S26 Plus. For many of us millennials, it may seem like a big ask to turn off our phones at any time, but it’s good for our phones and can give us some peace of mind, especially if we’re dealing with issues or our phones are slow.
Samsung’s Device Care
Samsung Device Care might not seem like a big deal, but it’s been one of my favorite Galaxy features for as long as I can remember. This is a set of parameters in each Galaxy phone it lets you optimize your phone to keep everything running smoothly. Clean memory used by apps running in the background, free up memory space from unused apps or duplicate files, manage battery settings, run diagnostics, and more. you can
In fact, I clear my phone’s memory so often that I’ve started using the Device Care widget to easily optimize my Galaxy S26 with one tap.
However, there is one feature in Device Maintenance that isn’t as obvious or easily accessible: Auto-Optimization. You may have to scroll down a bit to see it, but this feature keeps your phone running smoothly in the background, so you spend less time worrying about its performance.
One way is Auto Restart, which lets you schedule days and times when your phone will restart automatically, which Samsung notes can “keep your phone at its best.”
Why you need to restart your phone
Being able to restart your phone automatically might not seem like a big deal, but it can help your phone work. In fact, experts say rebooting your phone at least once a week can help in several (but not all) ways, from closing background apps that eat up your phone’s resources to fixing random crashes.
The NSA also noted that rebooting can help reduce the risk of malware, though that may be less of a concern these days with the various protections companies put in place to protect our phones. However, you can never be too safe.
Some might say that’s good restart your smartphone once a dayand there is no harm in it. Once a week is also acceptable as long as you do it often enough and with some consistency. Doing this will clean up bad data and free up memory from misbehaving apps, which can result in better battery life for you because apps aren’t hogging it up doing things in the background that you don’t know or need.
How to schedule automatic reboots on Galaxy S26
1. open Settings programeither from the Quick Settings drop-down menu or from the app drawer.
2. Open Device maintenance.
3. hit Automatic optimization.
4. hit Automatic restart at the bottom.
5. Activate it Restart if necessary if you want your phone to restart automatically when it detects performance issues.
6. Activate it Restart on schedule and set the day(s) and time you want the phone to restart automatically.
Keep your Galaxy S26 in top shape for as long as possible
Samsung’s flagship smartphones, such as the Galaxy S26, receive software support for up to seven yearsIncludes OS updates and security patches. It’s a nice gesture, assuming consumers will keep their phones as long as they’re supported, and indeed some may be. That’s why built-in tools like these are a great way to ensure phones are properly maintained and extend battery health.
If you have a Samsung smartphone, I recommend checking out all the Device Care features to keep your device optimized and at its best.
