If you want to really immerse yourself in your games, there’s nothing better than having the screen in your face. VR headsets are a good example of this, but if you prefer to keep things 2D, there’s always gaming glasses. They look like regular glasses, except the lenses are replaced by screens, giving you a front-row view of everything that’s happening in the game.
Of course, given how hardware manufacturers have to squeeze a screen into something as small as a goggle lens, they’re usually not as powerful as a full gaming monitor. However, ROG is ready to change that. The company has introduced the XREAL R1 gaming glasses, which manage to pack 240Hz micro-OLED into a comfortable pair of glasses.
ROG XREAL R1 brings gaming to the bridge of your nose
It even works with ROG Ally
We’ve heard about the ROG XREAL R1 for a while now, but we finally have some concrete details on when and how much these glasses will be available. If you need a boost, the ROG XREAL R1 glasses bring a 240Hz micro-OLED display with a 0.01ms response time to the AR space. Just plug them into your hardware, grab your control scheme of choice, and you’re gaming like never before.
ROG XREAL R1 is also designed to play nicely with ROG Ally. Just connect the glasses to Ally with a USB-C cable and it will flash the game to your glasses. When in Goggle mode, ROG Ally’s screen will show the control panel instead of the game, allowing you to quickly and easily adjust settings and show something on the screen of the portable console when you play games through the goggle.
Pre-orders will start on May 17th on the official website and you can Register your interest now. It will cost $849.
