TL; DR
- Confusion users complain about hitting their weekly advanced AI usage limits faster, despite reduced activity.
- The company has confirmed that it has changed limits for accounts linked to promotional codes to combat fraud and unauthorized resales.
- Confusion is working to clarify the restrictions for affected users and will help anyone who thinks they may have been affected by the bug.
A Perplexity spokesperson shared the following statement with us:
Some users see different usage limits because their accounts are tied to promotional code offers, and we’ve had to adjust the app due to fraud and unauthorized resale of those codes, including when people may have purchased invalid codes from third parties. We are working to make the applicable restrictions clearer to affected users, and while we continue to enforce our anti-abuse terms, we will continue to assist anyone who mistakenly believes they have been affected.
As noted in the statement, Perplexity has corrected the application of usage limits due to fraud and unauthorized resale of promotional codes. Thankfully, the company notes that it’s working to make the applicable restrictions clearer for affected users. If you feel you have been affected by an error, you should contact Perplexity’s customer support.
We’ve asked Perplexity which promo codes are affected and will update the article once we get more information from the company.
