TL; DR
- Google is now willing to license its Gemini for Home technology suite to other manufacturers to develop Gemini-ready smart home equipment.
- It also offers design references for devices, so brands don’t have to spend time on R&D.
- Google will also expand its partnership with ISPs and carriers, including AT&T, which already offer smart home services.
Last year, Google introduced a major Home update along with it A few traits that work with Geminiincluding Home Brief and Ask Home. - Ask at homeallows you to interact with various devices in your smart home using natural language and

The first two product categories that Google plans to develop are smart cameras and smart speakers. With these reference designs, the partners will be able to simplify production for Hi-Fi speakers and high-quality security cameras. Google hasn’t said whether it plans to restrict the program to reputable manufacturers or open it up to DIYers and regulators. However, it has opened a form where you can register your interest in the preparation of suitable apparatus.
In addition, the tech giant will not only package Google Home subscriptions as perks for consumers, but will also partner with ISPs and carriers to share technology to power its own solutions. For example, it’s already working with AT&T to launch Gemini-powered insights into its Connected Life program.
This isn’t Google’s first partnership with other manufacturers for smart home devices. In the past, it has partnered with leading audio brands including Bose, Sony and JBL for smart speakers and tech brands like Lenovo, Google Assistant for natively built-in smart displays. Some of these new devices already get Gemini support. However, Google hasn’t really succeeded in making them incredibly popular, and it remains to be seen whether that might change now.
