Apple TV is a strong home for comedies, led by hits like Ted Lasso and Shrinking. And recent announcements reveal many similarly promising series in the pipeline.
Apple TV offers a compelling lineup of new and upcoming comedies
Along with science fiction, one of Apple TV’s strongest genres has long been comedy.
The first big Apple series was Ted Lasso. And since then, Lasso’s co-creator has also spawned great ones Shrinkable and Bad monkey.
Apple is currently releasing two great new series with a comedic flair:
Margo has money problems aired its finale this week, but it’s also a comedy-drama worth watching.
Looking ahead to the summer, the upcoming comedy premieres include The long-awaited return of Ted Lasso the new season of the beloved British series in August It worksand the so-called acid film Dink. And this fall, the Texas-set comedy called Brothers Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson will star.

Deadline informed today A new Apple TV comedy series titled “Protective Custody” starring Ben Stiller is coming:
Ben Stiller will star and executive produce Protective CustodyA new comedy series from Mike Judge (Silicon Valley), Steve Haley (Common side effects) and Dave King (Parks and Recreation) Apple develops with an eye towards a series of order.
Marking his first leading role in a comedy series for Styles, Protective Custody will follow a disgraced financier accused of a massive fraud who is thrown into protective custody, where he must navigate prison politics, salvage his reputation, and face the consequences of his actions while awaiting trial.
Stiller is a frequent Apple contributor at this point, most famously for his work on Severance. He also stars opposite Jessica Chastain in the upcoming limited series, Vacation weeks.

Banks stars in and executive produces the untitled series from creators Liz Heldens (“Will Trent,” “Friday Night Lights”) and Matt Ward (“The Big Leap,” “Best Medicine”). Here is the plot summary:

The Elizabeth Banks show begins filming in Los Angeles this year, so it will premiere in 2027. The Guardianship may come next year, but it’s in early development, so the timing is anyone’s guess.
