A new document in the FCC database has revealed unannounced Apple-made Bluetooth headphones. Here are the details.
Mystery Apple headphones appear in FCC filings
As seen MacRumors (via Aaron Perris), a new FCC filing shows an unreleased Apple product with model number A3577.
In a section titled “Device under test (DUT) information” in the document, the device is described simply as “Bluetooth on-ear headphones” and “integrated battery, microphone, and antenna.”
The document also lists the information as “Made for Apple Inc.” and provides the company’s address.
As most of the details are still shrouded in secrecy, it’s still impossible to tell if these are Apple-branded headphones or a new Beats product.
Unlike many product lines, Apple doesn’t have a clear model naming scheme that differentiates AirPods from Beats, with both product families using the same broad “A####” format.
For example, Apple lists AirPods Max 2 A3454, like the AirPods Max 1 USB-C A3184 and the original AirPods Max A2096. But recent Beats products also use the same format: the Beats Studio Pro The FCC used A2924 in its filings and Powerbeats Pro 2 documents A3157 (left earpiece), A3158 (right earpiece) and A3160 (charging case) were used.
Considering that Apple just released AirPods Max 2the appeal is more likely to hint at an upcoming Beats product. Included in Beats’ current line of headphones Beats Studio ProLaunched in July 2023 and Beats Solo 4It was launched in April 2024.
