It may be May, but there are still awards to be given for 2025. friday night Crunchyroll held its annual anime awards, and the winners revealed were both fitting and chaotic.
The awards for the hilarious heads have been given to the long-running series you’ve been waiting for—Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle It received the “Best Score” and “Film of the Year” awards. My Hero Academia winners were awarded Best Ending Sequence and several regional voice acting awards, etc. includes Gachiakuta, the current new kid on the block also took home some gold for Best New Series, Best Background Art, and Best Character Design.
Other victories were complete surprises. The Biggest is the “Best Original Anime” winner Lazar, An anime that isn’t actually streaming on Crunchyroll in 2025; it was an Adult Swim/HBO Max series in North America and aired on Tokyo TV in Japan. With 60% active community rating, some will look down on its quality Rotten Tomatoes Clashes against the critical consensus of 92%. However, considering the other nominees as this particular category, it feels a little odd Digimon Beatbreak and Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuux are relatively less original works Lazarus, Moonrise, or Apocalypse Hotel.
