ByteDance is reportedly ending the global rollout of its Seedance 2.0 video generator


ByteDance has suspended plans to launch its new AI video model globally Information about this was published in The Information magazine.

Short videos made by the model, including a clip of Tom Cruise fighting with Brad Pitt, soon went viral and It caused severe criticism from Hollywood.

While a successful screenwriter said the footage meant “It’s over for us,” the studios quickly sent multiple cease-and-desist letters to ByteDance, with Disney lawyers accusing the company of “virtually hacking Disney’s IP.” ByteDance responded promises to introduce stronger safeguards for intellectual property.

The company planned to launch Seedance 2.0 globally in mid-March, but is delaying those plans as its engineers and lawyers work to avoid further legal challenges.

ByteDance did not immediately respond to TechCrunch’s request for comment.
