It is completely anonymous to keep your meta data safe. Meta, like few other tech companies, is primarily in the advertising business. It wants to use the information it collects to sell you customized ads to other companies to place on social media platforms.
This is Meta’s core business model and explains why the brand wants as much user data as it can get. Without entering it data privacy scandals Meta has been involved over the years.
Of course, putting a Meta camera and microphone on your face can cause some discomfort. I admit that as a Meta skeptic, I had some concerns about buying into the Meta smart glasses ecosystem. But they are the best and I finally got over my privacy fears. I bought the Meta smart glasses – three pairs of them, actually – for the “smart” features. By that, I mean onboard camera, microphone, speaker, and Bluetooth capabilities. While the brand is heavily marketing these wearables as “AI glasses,” I’m not really interested in putting them on. Meta’s AI in my face. To some extent, the AI is built right into the Meta smart glasses, but there are a few things you can do to avoid accidental interactions and unwanted information sharing.
Specifically, the Meta glasses have the words “Hey Meta” and “OK Meta” that activate the voice assistant when spoken. Any content captured or recorded during a Meta AI session can be used for training purposes or even manually reviewed by humans. Because of this, you don’t want Meta AI to accidentally activate when your smart glasses think you’re saying “Hey Meta” or “OK Meta.”
Fortunately, you can disable Meta AI silent mode in the app using these steps:
1. open Meta AI software.
2. Close it Meta smart glassesthen tap on it gear settings for your glasses.
3. hit Meta AI.
4. press “Hey Meta” benefits.
5. Flip the switch next to it “Hello Meta” off.
You will now still be able to activate Meta AI using the touch pad on the side of the right temple of your smart glasses. However, the voice-activated Meta AI will no longer be available, and this is great if you want to limit accidental triggers and reduce data exchange with the Meta.
The goals of changing these settings are to save as much data as possible on your devices and not share unnecessary data with Meta. There is no better way to eliminate it Cloud media feature on your smart glasses. When enabled, this setting shares your photos and videos with Meta servers for cloud processing. These are stored in the cloud for 30 days before being automatically deleted. You can also delete them manually, both from your device and from the cloud in the Meta AI app.
The photos and videos you take with Meta smart glasses can be avoided from being processed and stored in the cloud. This keeps everything on your device, meaning your photos and videos won’t be sent to the Meta servers. How to do it:
1. open Meta AI software.

Every product and service wants you to share more informationusually to identify bugs and improve features. This is a somewhat noble request, but I will always politely decline to share information beyond what is absolutely necessary.
There is some information that Meta describes as “important” and should be shared. Another category of data is called “additional data”, which is described as “information about how you use your AI glasses and wrist devices”.

I wish Meta would do more to address the privacy concerns you have with its products and services. At the same time, these three settings help keep your information as private as possible, so you can continue wearing Meta glasses without fear of sharing too much.
