TL;DR

  • A new video showing a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide dummy model has surfaced online.
  • The clip shows a slim, compact phone with a wide bezel display.
  • The video also reveals a significant hinge gap, although this is not representative of the final product.

Samsung is widely (heh) expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide in July, and the latest leaks of the phone may be an unexpected name. We’ve already seen unofficial renders, but this might be our first look at a proper dummy model.

Consultant and reviewer Sonny Dickson (h/t: The Verge) released a video showing a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide dummy model. It’s not clear if this is an official dummy or a third-party model using leaked schematics. Watch the video below.

Check out the Samsung Fold 8 Wide doll first. Subtlety is madness. The S25 Edge is slim when folded.

The clip shows off a compact, super-thin foldable phone with a squat cover and dual rear camera setup, similar to the Galaxy S25 Edge. We don’t see the inside of the device, and there’s also a large gap between the two halves of the phone. It is entirely possible that this hinge gap is limited to the dummy model and that production devices do not have this problem. Spacing can also be increased if the dummy model does not have an internal screen in the first place.

A leaky fellow Ice Universe also chimed in on this dummy, saying it shows a “low-quality” model that should only be used as a “rough reference.” Nevertheless, the model gives us a good idea of what to expect when the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide goes on sale in the coming months. So people who want a compact foldable device like OPPO and Google’s first foldable devices should definitely keep an eye on this phone.

Otherwise, the leaked Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide specs point to a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a 4,800mAh battery, 45W wired charging, a 7.6-inch main display, and two 50-megapixel rear cameras (primary and ultra-wide). A recent leak suggests that the wide foldable device may actually be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8, while the expected Galaxy Z Fold 8 may be called the Fold 8 Ultra.
