A random shooting happened on Saturday, May 23, in one of the local markets.

According to the police, there was a live round in the chamber of the shotgun. The dog then moved from one side of the back seat to the other, causing the gun to go off. When the woman fired the gun, she approached a traffic light a few meters away. Although the woman’s car door suffered the impact of the explosion, the bullet hit her upper right arm, which was standing outside the window.

A family member of the woman took her to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff for treatment, police said. Authorities are still investigating the incident, although they note that it is illegal to drive with a loaded firearm in a vehicle in Nebraska.

Not the first

As strange as this incident is, it’s not the first recent dogfight.

Last November, a 53-year-old Pennsylvania man informed that he was shot in the lower back by his dog with a shotgun he had placed on his bed while cleaning his bed (required surgery, but survived). In March 2025, he was a 39-year-old man in Tennessee shot in the same way by his dog when he jumped on the bed and his paw hit the gun’s trigger guard; the bullet only went through his left thigh. More tragically, in 2023, he was from Kansas was killed with a gun accidentally opened by a dog during a hunt.

And for those with clever sitcom memories, this latest incident might remind you Celeste CC Cunninghamthe 30 rocks A character who started his new career in politics after being hit in the face by a dog (in fiction For life Adaptation of CC’s story, played by Kristin Wiig).
