There is Apple announced today the official AirPods Max successor. Years after the original model was introduced, AirPods Max 2 is here.
AirPods Max 2 can be ordered on March 25, with delivery in early April

Today we have the long-awaited AirPods Max 2 presented.
The new feature is the H2 chip, which has been a part of AirPods Pro and AirPods 4 for a long time.
The H2 powers an improved Active Noise Cancellation experience for users. For Apple:
“With the incredible performance of the H2, AirPods Max are enhanced with up to 1.5x more effective ANC for the ultimate all-day listening experience,” said Eric Tresky, director of Audio Product Marketing at Apple. “Sound quality is exceptionally clear, rich and acoustically detailed – and when combined with features like Personalized Spatial Audio, AirPods Max 2 deliver a deeply immersive experience.”
In addition to the ANC improvements, Apple says the Transparency mode is even better with the new model: “With a new digital signal processing algorithm optimized for the H2 and the microphone array on the AirPods Max, Transparency sounds even more natural.”
The H2 is a major upgrade over the H1 found on the previous AirPods Max. That’s because in addition to boosting ANC, it also provides a number of new features that the AirPods Max and its H1 chip never supported.
These new features for AirPods Max 2 users include:
- Live Translation
- Adaptive Audio
- Conversational awareness
- Sound insulation
- Studio quality recording
- Loud Noise Reduction
- Siri interaction with head gestures
- Camera Remote
If you’re an AirPods Pro user, these features aren’t new, but it’s great to finally have them on the AirPods Max.

If you’re interested in a wired experience with the AirPods Max 2, Apple says it’s improved over the previous model with support for 24-bit, 48kHz lossless audio.
For the highest quality audio across music, movies and games, the new AirPods Max support 24-bit, 48kHz lossless audio when connected via the included USB-C cable. Lossless audio and ultra-low latency allow music creators to take full advantage of AirPods Max throughout their professional workflow in Logic Pro and other music creation software. Using a USB-C cable, AirPods Max are the only headphones that allow musicians to create and mix Personalized Spatial Audio with head tracking.
The AirPods Max 2 are priced at $549 and will be available to order on Wednesday, March 25 before shipping in early April.
It comes in the same color options as the new model previous USB-C model AirPods Max: midnight, starlight, orange, purple and blue.
