Forza Horizon 6 is still in motion. This time, we’ve got sales data from Japan that shows it the game is the first Xbox game in three years to be physically available in the region. The last Xbox game to achieve this was its predecessor Forza Horizon 5 in 2023, and before that it was Final Fantasy XV in 2016.
It’s quite a testament to see that everything Xbox related is performing well in Japan. It’s no secret that Xbox has struggled to gain any meaningful ground in the region, so I think it’s somewhat poetic that one of its biggest successes is a game based entirely around Japan.
I am also interested in this BowieKnife99 meme It seems like every brand under the sun is involved has made its way into the Japanese community and here’s what the players there think about it. I imagine their reaction is not that different from ours to a rogue car.
Information courtesy of FamitsuIt shows Forza Horizon 6 at number 26 on the top 30 physical games chart. That’s pretty impressive given how small Xbox’s install base is in the region, with the platform often only selling a few hundred consoles a week, and that’s assuming Xbox gets lucky.
Having played the game myself, I think it’s no surprise that it’s taking over the charts. Forza Horizon 6 is a fantastic racing game and its Japanese setting is truly stunning with breathtaking scenery. Despite how bad I am at racing games, I still have a great time with it. But that’s just me.
It’s always a shame how much Xbox struggles in Japan. It’s not for lack of trying; they just never quite crack the market, but at least they’re somewhat here with Forza.
Anyway, what do you think of the Forza Horizon 6 charting in Japan? do you care Were you surprised or expecting this? Let me know in the comments and don’t forget to take our poll!
