Dell’s XPS 13 laptop was first introduced in the brand’s ultrabook line in 2012, and it’s had quite a history over the next 14 years.
The last update in 2024, at least until this new announcement I covered today, us XPS 13 9345 with Qualcomm Snapdragon X chips.
There came a time when Dell has moved its computers away from the XPS name in another waya decision he eventually admitted was a mistake at CES 2026. I saw there Dell introduces the new XPS 14 and XPS 16 models revised and better than ever.
Dell also offered to bring back the XPS 13 this year, and that time it came with a new one XPS 13 (DX13260) model was presented Computex 2026.
Dell’s new XPS 13 is coming to take on the MacBook Neo
The new XPS 13 comes at a critical time in the PC market. Apple’s $599 MacBook Neo shocked almost everyonewhen it came out earlier this year, it sparked weeks of online controversy over the price and quality of Windows laptops.
Well, I have good news. Dell plans to launch the new XPS 13 for students at a price of $599I can’t help but assume that it will become the main competition for Apple’s MacBook Neo.
The XPS 13 doesn’t just compete on price. I can’t help but point out a few notable features not found on the MacBook Neo, such as a backlit keyboarda touch displaysupport for multiple external displaysand until 32 GB memory.
Let’s take a closer look at the features that come with the new XPS 13 (DX13260).

This is the thinnest XPS laptop I’ve ever seen
The new XPS 13 (DX13260) is Dell’s thinnest and lightest XPS laptop ever. 2.2 pounds (0.9 kg) and measurement only 0.5 inch (12.7 mm) thin
It’s made from CNC-machined aluminum for the rigidity, durability and overall premium feel associated with XPS, and despite its slim size, it has a dual-fan cooling system.
Dell also managed to fit in four speakers with a total output of 8W Dolby Atmosas well as a 1080p resolution slim webcam and IR sensor for Windows Hello. Models with Intel Core chips get dual USB-C ports, while Core Ultra models have dual ports. Lightning 4.
Intel’s latest Core Ultra Series 3 chips power the new XPS 13
Dell plans to initially ship the XPS 13 with Intel’s “Panther Lake” Core 5 320 CPU, but will add a more powerful Core Ultra 7 355 option at launch.
The Core 5 chip comes with 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to a 512GB SSD, while the Core 7 Ultra chip unlocks 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD.
Dell claims up to 17 hours of battery life when streaming video, and while that number may drop in real-world use, it’s still a great proposition.
Regardless of the CPU you choose, all new XPS 13 models feature the same 13.4-inch touchscreen. 2560×1600 (2.5K) resolution, 500 nits brightness, 100% DCI-P3 color, DisplayHDR 400 certification, Dolby Vision30-120Hz variable refresh rate and anti-glare finish.
You don’t have to wait long for the new XPS 13
Dell plans to launch the new XPS 13 in June 2026, and as mentioned, it will start at just $599 for students 16 and up. It goes up to $699 for everyone else. Not bad, but keep in mind that the price will be for the model without the Ultra Intel chip, with 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.
Dell plans to launch the XPS 13 with the Intel Core Ultra 7 355 chip “later this summer.”
