Dealing with AMD rising PC component prices through an unusual strategy: repackaging old CPUs and GPUs, reaching gamers who can no longer afford the latest technology.
The company headlines Computex 2026 announcement The Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition is a 2022 CPU revival that supposedly marks a decade for the AM4 platform. It’s still the same Zen 3-based processor with eight cores and its namesake 96MB 3D V-Cache, but it comes with a Carbice Ice Pad to keep temperatures “over time”.
The anniversary edition will be available on June 25 for $349. It will work with all AMD 400 and 500 Series motherboards, so you won’t have to replace part of your existing investment.
Meanwhile, AMD is bringing back the 7 series with the Ryzen 7 7700X3D. It is intended as an “affordable entry point” for AM5 and 3D V-Cache, with eight cores, a maximum clock speed of 4.5 GHz and 104 MB of total cache. It will arrive on July 16 for $329, and comes as AMD promises improvements and architectures compatible with the new AM5 by 2029.
AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE: Between GPUs
Mid-range graphics for those who can’t afford a 9070 XT
The newest AMD consumer hardware at Computex is the Radeon RX 9070 GRE, a mid-range video card that sits between the RX 9060 XT and the higher-end RX 9070. It doesn’t have as much memory as either alternative (12GB vs. 16GB) and has 48 compute units instead of the regular RX96′, as 1440p brings “more value” to gaming and delivers over 100fps with ray tracing enabled.
The hardware is still based on and supports RDNA 4 FSR Redstone Along with AMD’s other enhanced features. It can also help speed up the AI on the device.
Price is key. Partners will start selling the Radeon RX 9070 GRE on June 1 for $549, putting it above the $349 price of the RX 9060 XT 16GB variant, but you’ll usually pay more for the RX 9070. For under $600. As long as your games don’t depend too much on the price of RX RAM, it can depend too much on the graphics value of GRE. 9070 and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 cards can easily spiral out of reach.
Why is AMD selling old CPUs as new? Because it has to

The rush to build data centers and workstations with artificial intelligence has caused the prices of many PC parts, especially memory, to skyrocket. Couple that with the wider affordability crisis and enthusiasts may be reluctant to upgrade. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D and 7700X3D are not more affordable than the latest 9000 series CPUs (9850X3D officially starting at $499), but allow people with older PCs to upgrade their performance without having to worry about buying a motherboard and RAM.
AMD also confirmed that it was the first Zen 6 based consumer CPUs It won’t be ready until early 2027. The flagship Zen 5 chips are effectively built, so the company needs to focus on budget-friendly buyers if it is to drive demand in the next few months.
