according to The latest edition of the Power On newsletterApple is finally preparing to introduce its new versions Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini later this year – along with the long-awaited release of next-generation Siri in iOS 27. These devices will mostly be chip upgrades. Apple TV 4K may get an updated Siri Remote.
New Apple TV and HomePod mini set for fall
If you’ve been following the rumors consistently, you probably know that it’s the next generation Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini has been on the verge of release for quite some time.
However, the reason these new devices are taking so long is mainly because Apple wants to tie these new hardware releases to new Apple Intelligence features that haven’t come together yet — hopefully, until now. From newsletter:
These updates have been delayed for many months, as they were meant to launch in tandem with the new Siri and Apple Intelligence updates. After numerous delays, this software is now scheduled for this fall.
Gourmet’s report does not specify which new chips will be included in which new products. However, it is largely believed Apple TV 4K The A15 chip will be bumped up to the A17 Pro chip, while the HomePod mini will bump up from the S5 chip to the S9 chip.
A17 Pro will give Apple TV 4K juice to run Apple models natively, but the S9 chip definitely can’t, so any new Apple Intelligence features HomePod mini will likely depend on cloud flow.
Other than newer chipsets, new Apple TV 4K it may come with a new Siri Remote, though it’s unclear how significant the changes will be. It can be an internal update or a completely new design:
I’m told that the remote is likely to be refreshed in some form, but the box itself will look like the current version, which is the epitome of 2010 industrial design. (And even a remote update isn’t something noticeable, it might just be a small change inside the accessory.)
