What you need to know
- Best Buy Canada has reportedly slipped and revealed the intended release date for the Google Home Speaker.
- The listing claims the device will debut on June 25, 2026; but this product has since been removed from the list.
- Google revealed the Home Speaker during its big Gemini Home announcement in October, saying that artificial intelligence would be its backbone and that it would come for $99 in the US.
I/O 2026 came and went without a hint of Google’s next smart speaker, but it looks like the retailer has it covered.
Over the weekend, a Canadian product page was reported to have (accidentally?) surfaced when it hit the market can be Watch the Google Home Speaker debut. A post 9 to 5 Google highlights this by stating that it has discovered a product page Best Buy Canada for Google Home Speaker. The the store lists the device On Hazel and Porcelain, however, it’s the “Release Date: June 25, 2026” tag that strikes.
Android Central’s Take
It makes sense that Best Buy probably got lost with the discovery date and removed it as soon as they realized their mistake. I expected to see something about the Home Speaker during I/O, but Google was surprisingly quiet. It will be interesting to see where the Twins are for the House until then.
The price of the product is 139 dollars. You have to remember that this is in CAD, not USD. The publication did further research, noting that this date did not appear on the US Best Buy website. However, this date does not appear in the Canadian version either. We checked today (June 1st) and the retailer has removed the date, which probably shouldn’t have been displayed yet.
The rest of the product list is pretty standard and offers little to say: “Brilliant 360-degree sound response Twins magic in this Google Home smart speaker. Gemini Live lets you get expert help, chat naturally, and brainstorm ideas (subscription required).” Google then moved on to some specs for the speaker.
Real AI speaker
A talk house speaker It describes Google’s next device to a T. The company announced the speaker late last year when it debuted Gemini for Home. Twins are the backbone of this Home Speaker, equipped with “custom processing” to handle the user’s tasks. When it comes to design, the Home Speaker is fairly simple with a round design and a vibrant ring light at the bottom.
This ring light is for Gemini. Google says the AI will provide visual feedback as it listens, “reasons” or answers your question. Interestingly, Google’s Canadian Best Buy listing did not list all four colors. Although Google also sells the product in Jade and Berry, it only showed Hazel and Porcelain.
It was teased that Speaker of the House was coming in “spring 2026,” but it’s more like summer 2026 (unless things change?). Google also plans to integrate Home Speaker with TV Streamer, which it says is a much-requested feature.
Gemini for Home went into early access in the Home app shortly after it was announced in October 2025. Since then, the company has been working tirelessly on it, rolling out consistent updates over the months. The latest makes it possible create automations based on camera events.
