What is Google I/O and when is it this year?
Google I/O is one Google’s most important conferences of the year and is mainly intended for software and hardware developers. There’s usually a keynote event where CEO Sundar Pichai unveils new Android developments and sometimes even teases a new product launch that might happen later in the year.
The conference lasts several days, and outside of the keynote, the company has many workshops and tutorials for coding practices. Developers are encouraged to attend the event, as they’ll learn about new tools, changes to how third parties can integrate with core features, and even updates on the licensing and agreements you need to follow to develop for the Google ecosystem.
There are also many networking opportunities.
The event is usually held in May at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California this year May 19 and 20 have been set.
Will Android Central be there and what can we expect from this year’s event?
Yes, managing editor Derek Lee will be at Google I/O this year.
We expect a lot of announcements, especially regarding AI and Android 17. But be sure to follow this page to find out everything the event has to offer and all the news!
