Obviously, the creators For All Humanity they won’t spoil anything. They won’t go away craft a mysterious, potentially game-changing finale and then explain what that means in the interview. They want you back for the sixth and final season. And we will do it.
That doesn’t mean they don’t have anything to say about it. And in a new interview, showrunners Ben Nedivi and Matt Wolpert discussed all great moments how they will play out in the season five finale and season six. Of course, without revealing anything concrete.

in an excellent interview with ColliderNedivi and Wolpert addressed all of our burning questions. Why kill Kelly? What did he see? What does that Russian ship mean? How important will aliens be next year? You can read the full interview at that link, but here are just a few of the highlights.
Starting with Kelly, Nedivi and Wolpert revealed that even though they knew they were going to kill off her father, Ed, at the beginning of the season, they realized a little later that Kelly had to go too. In part, it was because he could never explain why they were on the Titan – he disobeyed orders, a fact his captain Walt never knew. “I think that’s what you feel when you say in the finale that he should be, it’s just not right in terms of the reason he gives Walt, his family and Alex’s growth at this point, but also because we know that the big reason they’re on that planet is because of what they did on the ship,” Nedivi said. “So in a way, what she didn’t say is one of the reasons why that sacrifice made sense to us. It’s not that it was easy for us to do dramatically because we’ve grown so close to that character and that actress over the years.”
As for him entering the methane pool and seeing the creatures he helped discover, there seems to have been no greater impact than a suitable way to send him off. “That was something we found in the writing because we were looking for a way to not just make it depressing, and it was a very emotional, sad moment,” Wolpert said. “The sacrifice was beautiful, but it was tragic, and it felt like a combination of sadness and joy to give him that last look of, ‘Oh, this is bigger than I could have ever imagined,’ and then go into that pool of liquid methane and see the life he’d been searching for for decades and embrace him and give him one last positive moment.”
When asked what the discovery of life on Titan means for the future of the show, Nedivi was a little more forthcoming, but not much. “I think the show has always been about a more hopeful future,” he said. “I think this season in particular was pretty dark with what happened on Mars, but we felt like that storyline was going to take us into the final season of the show, and so we always knew where we were going with it in terms of that discovery. We didn’t know exactly how it was going to play out until we wrote it, but I think this moment is a symbol of where the show is going, and Titan is just a symbol of the show moving forward. They had a small sample, they understood that there is so much life and what that means in terms of future exploration.” they don’t fall, so I think that’s definitely one of the things we’re focusing on as we go into season six, but we’re certainly not going to talk about it any more.
As for what the final jump to 2020 means, a Russian ship just flying into space and coming back to life decades later, all they would confirm was that it was important. “I would say that what we want people to take away is the interesting question, yes, there’s this dead ship that’s been floating around in space for decades and comes back to life, and there’s an opaque message, and what does it all mean, that’s really going to drive some of the story of season six,” Wolpert said.
The pair are currently filming their sixth season, so the show will finally reveal how we landed in this alternate timeline. Given that humans live on Mars and discover evidence of life in the galaxy, we’re guessing it will be quite different.
