Apple’s long-awaited Siri update is finally taking a step forward WWDC 2026. After first being announced in 2024, Apple has revealed its vision for an AI-powered Siri called Siri AI, which will be more “agentive” in part thanks to an infusion of Google’s Gemini.
Siri now takes action on both native and third-party applications, including managing things like email composition. This means you can give Siri topics and information, and let the next-generation voice assistant do the work for you.
To help with agency capabilities, Siri is now designed to be more personalized using information from your Apple account and other personal data on your device, such as calendar events, emails and notes. The improved Siri also has “visual intelligence,” meaning it can look at and understand what’s on your screen to take better actions for you. Note that these two things were not yet available when the next-generation Siri was originally announced in 2024.
Siri is also making its way into more places, including a dedicated Siri app and Spotlight on macOS, where you can now ask Siri questions and have her help you complete tasks and compare things. In VisionOS, you can even insert the Siri sphere into the digital space for easier access.
There are plenty of new sounds too, and if you don’t like the defaults, you can now adjust Siri’s cadence and tempo.

Apple’s AI efforts haven’t exactly gone according to plan since the launch of Apple Intelligence and Siri is the most obvious example. After being announced in 2024, the next-generation Siri has yet to find its way onto Apple devices as the company tried to get a voice assistant. par. up to.
It remains to be seen whether or not Siri will really catch on with users as the promised major upgrade, but it will certainly have some competition, especially from the recently introduced Google. Gemini intelligencethe company’s agent update to Android.
This is a developing story…
