TL; DR

  • Anthropic is releasing a pair of their strongest models to date with the Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5.
  • While Mythos 5 was created to help security researchers discover vulnerabilities, the public Fable 5 has safeguards to prevent hacking attacks.
  • Both models demonstrate advanced capabilities for solving even very complex analytical tasks.

By now, you’ve almost certainly seen at least one AI demonstration that left you feeling a little confused—”This just isn’t good; this out of fear good.” Whether we’re talking about AI stealing artists’ work or creating new proofs for mathematical mysteries, we’re constantly finding new ways in which AI-powered systems deliver results that make them seem almost disturbingly powerful. We heard recently anthropic shares his concerns about releasing the latest Claude Mythos model, which is less so very good in finding software vulnerabilities. And today, Anthropic is starting to move forward with just that.

Automated bug hunting is nothing new, and computer scientists are using the same tools fusers For years, it has been filling software with random entries in hopes of causing bugs. But AI is a much more powerful threat, and as vulnerability finders like Mythos have evolved, their creators have become appropriately concerned about sharing their strongest models.

Instead of letting its technology gather dust forever, Anthropic today share compromises Here’s how to deploy Mythos responsibly and safely. The key to this approach is splitting things into two separate models: Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5.

Fable 5 is a model for the general public and a full-featured solution for solving analytical tasks. It’s not just about finding software vulnerabilities — Fable 5 can help code, has powerful vision analysis tools, and can even develop built-in strategies over time. According to Anthropic, “The capabilities of the Fable 5 exceed those of any model available to date.”

But Anthropic also releases it by adding a few lines. Fable 5 is designed to resist attempts to use it to find the latest zero-day exploit ready to be used by bad actors and destroy global computer systems. When someone tries to push Fable 5 beyond these limits, the model will fall back Closing the case 4.8instead of.

But then there’s the Mythos 5, which is internally identical to the Fable 5, but without many of those added protections. The key here is that Anthropic plans to release it in a highly selective manner, inviting only trusted members of the cybersecurity community to use it. It’s important to use such a tool to identify and fix bugs to stay ahead of the bad guys, and this solution is designed to reduce the risks of Mythos 5 being redefined for filth.

Anthropic has developed a series of “classifiers” that try to recognize what users are trying to do with the Fable 5, and they’re not just trying to prevent hacking. They’re also designed to prevent anyone from using the model to develop ways to synthesize dangerous chemical or biological compounds, or to gain enough insider information to build their own Fable 5 — without safeguards in place.

Hopefully this is enough to keep this open Mythos-based release running safely, as we’re sure a lot of people will be trying it out. a lot it is difficult to unlock its full potential.
