Apple’s iPadOS 27 beta downloads include two iPad Pro models that will be out of support for a short time

Apple briefly listed the iPadOS 27 beta 1 recovery images for two older iPad Pro models before removing them from the developer’s download page. Here are the details.

Apple fixes list of iPadOS 27 recovery images

When Apple announced iPadOS 27the company said that the following devices will be available compatible with the new system:

Apple’s Developer websitehowever, a recovery image link for “11-inch iPad Pro (1st and 2nd generation), 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd and 4th generation)” is included, even though two of those models are not included in the official iPadOS 27 compatibility list. Interestingly, the file name itself referred to unsupported models.

9to5Mac contacted Apple to ask if the recovery link was listed in error or if the official compatibility list was incomplete, as was recently the case. watchOS 27 and Apple Watch Series 9. We also tried installing IPSW on the 3rd generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro, but the installation failed.

Although Apple has not responded, the company has since removed the recovery link from its Developer website, without changing the official compatibility list.

This looks less like the case of the Apple Watch Series 9, where users quickly reported being able to install watchOS 27, and more like a simple oversight. Instead, a possible explanation is that these iPad Pro models were grouped together in previous iPadOS releases and the same grouping was transferred by mistake.
