This week’s tweak to the Google Messages chat interface focuses on the voice memo button.
With the “Default” theme within Google Messages, the waveform icon is themed using Dynamic Color’s tertiary accent. This applies to both light and dark modes, while changing the system theme or wallpaper will update the background.

Before that, the circle fits the rest of the composition area (as seen below). This only applies to the Default/Dynamic Color option in Google Messages, the other eight themes are not affected.
After entering the text, the submit button is themed as before. It is not clear at this point if this is an intentional change or a bug.
We only see this change with Google Messages stable version 20260523_00_RC00 on one of our devices.

In a related development, the latest iOS 27 beta introduced the ability to remove the similarly placed volume button in the Messages app. You can also set it to “Record Voice” or “Start Dictation”.
