Microsoft has revealed Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Surface Pro 12 and Surface Laptop 8 update 13.8-inch/15-inch models. This follows the introduction of the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 Surface Pro and Surface Laptop business editions and RTX Spark at the end of May Surface Laptop Ultra Microsoft first demonstrated it at Computex in early June. Microsoft says the Snapdragon X2 Elite 2-in-1 Surface Pro 12 13-inch offers up to 53% faster graphics performance compared to the previous generation, including up to 15.5 hours of battery life. Other new features include an OLED display option that offers deeper blacks, higher contrast and improved color accuracy. The Surface Pro Flex keyboard and Slim Pen are also back with a new haptic feedback stylus.
The updated Surface Pro is available in Snapdragon X2 Plus 10-core and Snapdragon X2 Elite 12-core variants, each paired with a hex NPU that delivers 80 TOPS and Adreno GPU. Storage options include 12GB, 24GB and 64GB of LPDDR5x RAM. Finally, the Gen 4 SSD storage configurations are: 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. In terms of design, the new Surface Pro is almost identical to its predecessor.
Colors include Platinum, Black and Dune brown, which actually looks pretty cool. The updated Surface Pro now starts at $1,500.

On the Surface Laptop 8 side, the Snapdragon X2 Elite variant offers 58% more graphics power than the previous generation of the sleek laptop, up to 20 hours of battery life on the 13.8-inch version, and up to 19 hours on the 15-inch version, according to Microsoft. Both versions of the Surface Laptop have an LCD display, though the 15-inch Surface Laptop offers a sharper display with 201ppi to 262ppi (the Surface Laptop Ultra has an OLED panel), 600-nit peak brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Other new features include trackpad feedback across Windows and various apps, such as on high-end Surface Laptop business editions. The new Surface Laptop 13.8 and 15-inch models are available in 10-core Snapdragon X2 Plus and 12-core Snapdragon X2 Elite variants. Both devices are paired with Qualcomm’s Hexagon NPU with 80 TOPS and Adreno GPU.
Storage options include 16GB, 24GB, 32GB and 64GB of LPDDR5x RAM. In terms of storage, options for the 15-inch Surface Laptop include 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB of removable solid-state drive (Gen 4 SSD), while the 13.8-inch starts at 512GB. The laptop is very similar to its 7th generation counterpart, so at least in terms of design, not much has changed.
Like the new Surface Pro, colors include Platinum, Black and Dune. The new Surface Laptops are available now and start at $1,600.
