Of course, this is not the first time that a blockbuster has put a smartphone in the spotlight. From secret agents using the latest gadgets to superheroes answering calls on new gadgets, Hollywood has long been a favorite scene for tech companies. Samsung seems to be going one step further this time.

Instead of limiting the partnership to a few on-screen cameras, the company is launching an interactive experience called Spidey Tracker. Inspired by a plot element from the film, the online hub puts fans at the center of a worldwide hunt for images of Spider-Man.
According to Samsung and Sony Pictures, the idea centers on a fictional tracking platform created by Ned Leeds to locate the webslinger. Fans will be invited to participate as Spider-Man appears in events, creative content and locations around the world throughout the summer.

The preview is scheduled to air tomorrow, June 17 at 3:00 PM ET, coinciding with the release of the film’s second trailer. Fans are still not expected to show up for Samsung gadgets or even just a glimpse of Spider-Man, but Samsung certainly found a more creative way than sticking its latest foldable device on a billboard.
