Apple fixes potentially serious security flaws in Beats Studio Buds

Additionally, Apple released firmware update 1B211 for Beats Studio Buds with an important security fix.
according to supporting document published after the release, the company fixed the problem with Beats Firmware Update 1B211, “(a) An attacker within Bluetooth range can listen through the microphone of a device that is not yet paired and is actively looking for pair requests.”
The company says the vulnerability (CVE-2025-20701) is related to “open source code,” adding that “Apple Software is among the affected projects.”
Interestingly, Apple too just published The release notes for firmware version 8.1.41 (8B41) are spread over three. AirPods models earlier today. Unlike the Beats Studio Buds update, these notes only mention “bug fixes and other improvements” without any listed security content.
If you own a pair of Beats Studio Buds, there’s no way to manually initiate or trigger a firmware update. Here are Apple’s official instructions for updating your Beats headphones connected to an Apple device instead:
Before you start, make sure your device has this feature The latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS is installed and connected to a Wi-Fi network.
- Be sure on your iPhone, iPad or Mac Bluetooth is enabled.
- Make sure yours Beats is on to your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
- Fully charge your Beats (or make sure they’re plugged in).
- Do one of the following:
- Beats with a bag: Place both earphones in the box, then close the lid.
- Beats with power or system button: Turn off your Beats device.
- Place Beats in Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, then wait at least 30 minutes for the software to update.
- Reconnect Beats to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Check the firmware version.If you still cannot update your software, Reset your Beatsthen try updating the firmware again.
