Google Health is the new future for the Fitbit app. This week, the company detailed the massive v5.02 patch that brings much-needed updates to Android users.
This morning (June 18), Google detailed an update Now rolling out for Android and iOS devices. This patch will arrive in “phases” over the next few weeks, so delivery times will vary from device to device. Two updates this week are specific to Android. In the Health tab, Google says it’s making it easier for Android users to “Reorder Key Metrics.” Users can now tap Customize > long press desired chart > drag to new location.
iPhone users will have to wait for Google Health version 5.03 for this. Another update hitting Androids only is Naps. The app pays more attention to recorded sleep, highlighting them in a separate tab in the daily Sleep Score view. The next update will bring this to iOS.
More sleep data updates are coming to both Android and iOS this week, as does a better understanding of your anxiety. Users can now delete sleep sessions and edit them, which was an issue some Google reported.
A “Today” icon welcomes you to the app, which also receives updates. With v5.02, Google adds “more dimensions”. It says this is done to give users an extended metric focus without having to switch between tabs. Plus, as you reorder your Key Metrics, users will find easier reordering controls for the Today tab metrics.
On the fitness front, Hourly Activity returns to the Google Health app. You can find graphs for your steps per hour goals on the Today and Health tabs. Users can click the customize button on the “Today” tab to add this chart. Google is also addressing issues with this feature, including incorrect “step and distance” reports and more for cycling.

Around this time Fitbit Weather at launch, Google was talking about a Health app that replaced its previous app. We were told this from the beginning we would miss some features There was a Fitbit app. A few of the classics (sleep profile, icons, social aspect) are gone. For badges, Google says an AI-powered health coach will alert you and congratulate you on your progress. The same AI approach was adopted with the sleep profile and icons.
Gone are the animal-based summaries, replaced by a question-and-answer session with artificial intelligence on sleep management. Google started solving some issues After a short time with the program, in May, exercise tracking and sleep scores were affected.
Android Central’s Take
Some of the features introduced this month were rolled back by Google in May. The company was already aware of what users wanted and seemed to be aiming to bring them out. We’ll probably see updates like this again, polishing it until Google puts the app in a good place. this on the waybut could probably pay a little more attention.
