Widgets have long been a useful part of the Android home screen, and have cemented their place and functionality for many over the years. So for some Google Pixel owners who have upgraded to Android 17, it’s quite disappointing that the home screen widgets aren’t just removed from the home screen, but they’re not even available to go back to.
Through the Android 17 Beta program, some have noticed that widgets can be removed from the home screen and cannot be put back. The reports go back to Februarywithout a clear fix in place.
And it seems to have made it into the stable release.
Pixel owners They noted on Reddit please update this after updating to stable Android 17 dropped earlier this week widgets disappear from the home screen and are not available in the widget selector. This affects any widgets that were in place before the update.
What is the reason? Business Profile is involved, as are several affected users to celebrate disabling that profile brings everything back. Adding a new profile can return the matter though.
Update: Google confirmed it 9 to 5 Google that this is a bug caused by Work Profiler and that a fix is coming “soon” in a future software update.
We are aware of this bug affecting Work Profile users, and a fix will be available in a software update soon.
Some solutions include eliminates or archive the affected programs before restoring them and transition focus mode also works temporarily. It is being updated Job Profile setting on the control side. But it is very clear that none of this works should dotherefore, we will look for the appropriate patch release from Google in future Android 17 updates.
