Halo: The Campaign is still over a month in developmentand sometimes the wait is too long. Fortunately, one fan took matters into his own hands. WreckedElkIt is, as you know online Recreating the “Silent Cartographer” mission from Halo within – checks records — Fortnite.
Yes, that’s right. Using Unreal Editor for Fortnite, a tool that allows creators to create custom in-game experiences, WreckedElk recreates the same parts as the upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved remake, including cinematics, co-op support, custom HUD elements, voice acting, and more.
The project itself is incredibly ambitious, and in all the right ways. While the full experience isn’t available yet, the developer says it will be released this summer.
For now, there are currently three missions available if you want to try them out:
- Level 1 (Boarding Activity): 4188-5631-1827
- Level 2 (Land): 0553-6413-5190
- Level 3 (Night Cover): 2777-9577-3967
Honestly, I’m a huge fan of everything the community has made for Halo. Even though we’ve been starved as fans over the years, it’s been the community that’s kept the Halo spirit alive, whether it’s through projects like this or the countless mods available for Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
There’s no shortage of community-made content to keep Halo fans like myself busy while we wait to see the next releases from Halo Studios, in this case Halo: Campaign Evolved. While it’s a shame that fans often rely on community projects to help fill in the gaps, especially for an underutilized franchise, it’s still great to see people putting so much passion and effort into keeping Halo alive.
Even former Bungie developers have talked about Halo’s untapped potentialmakes projects like this more effective. Whether you’re interested in custom campaigns, mods, or all-new experiences, the Halo community continues to prove that it’s one of the franchise’s strongest points.
With that said, and my opinions aside, let me know what you think about this ambitious community project by commenting and taking our poll below:
