The first thing that stands out to me about the Qingping Air Monitor Lite is that it has a retro look, which adds a nice touch to your desk. It uses an LCD screen, but it’s almost 80s. It has a squat body style that breaks the mold of flat, square devices. On the back, you’ll find a USB-C charging port and a power button. It can run on the internal battery for a limited time, but if you have a spare outlet nearby, you can use the included USB-C to USB-A cable to keep it fully charged at all times. In the Qingping app, you can customize several settings based on whether it runs on battery power or plugs into the wall. In my experience, it’s best to leave it closed.
At the top, you’ll find a capacitive slider that lets you slide the screen to rotate it to different sizes. The device monitors temperature, humidity, CO2 levels and air quality using PM2.5 and PM10 measurements.
Installation and configuration
After unpacking and charging it, you can proceed with the installation. You start by scanning the HomeKit code on the bottom of the device directly into the Apple Home app. Initial onboarding usually goes without a hitch. After doing this, you should download it Qingping iPhone app to update software and adjust your hardware settings.
I initially had a software update problem years ago, but I solved the problem by simply removing the device from Apple Home and adding it back. The device defaults to Celsius, so if you prefer Fahrenheit, you’ll want to change it manually in the Qingping app. The app also allows you to customize how the display handles battery power, choose what the screen saver displays, and export your historical data.
Using Apple Home with Qingping Air Monitor Lite
Since my entire home relies on Apple Home, I only use the Home app unless I have to push a firmware update. Once you assign it to a room, you start monitoring the temperature, air quality, CO2 levels and humidity for that specific zone. At this point, I monitor the air quality in every room of my house, so I can make sure the air my family breathes every day is healthy. I always remember the massive temperature differences between different rooms in my house. The rooms at the far end of my HVAC systems can easily be several degrees different from the rooms next to the unit. As I learned the hard way when I forgot to take my hallway thermostat out of Eco mode, relying on a single central temperature sensor just doesn’t work. You need localized room information to keep the whole house comfortable.

In general, Qingping Air Monitor Lite It’s a fantastic device to have on your desk in 2026. It combines a nice mix of retro and minimal. I love that it has a rechargeable battery, uses a standard USB-C port, and looks perfect sitting next to everything on my desk. It’s not the cheapest way to track indoor weather, but it’s one of the best looking.
