Is NASA willing to risk time, money, resources and more lives to save Watney? This is an interesting debate about morality and the value of one’s life. It sounds like it would weigh the film down emotionally. However, The’s a Martian never takes itself too seriously. Even as the crew of the Hermes carry out a rescue mission, Watney jokes about being Iron Man to lighten the mood.
It’s hard to imagine the US and China putting aside their differences to save an astronaut. Frankly, this might be the most unrealistic thing about the movie. Still, I can believe that millions of people around the world will be watching for updates on the rescue mission. In a world where heroes are hopeless, The Martian optimistic nature is refreshing.

It is a film that embraces its science fiction roots and relies on chemistry and physics to solve problems.
