TL;DR

  • Nothing has teased a new smartphone and all signs point to a new device called the Nothing Phone 4b.
  • The teaser prominently highlights the ‘4b’ stylus and shows the phone sporting the familiar ‘Nothing’ design, including a transparent back.
  • The launch can be linked to the aborted CMF Phone projects, which reportedly went under the original Nothing brand.

Nothing has started teasing what appears to be its next smartphone, and it could be a brand new addition to its lineup.

The company’s India account is posted A short teaser about X shows a sketch of an approaching phone. While the video doesn’t reveal much about the device, it ends with what appears to be the biggest clue yet – a set of sketch pens with a clearly highlighted 4b stylus.

The teaser shows that nothing is preparing to launch the Nothing Phone 4b, a new budget or lower mid-range model alongside the existing phone. 4a and 4a Pro ranks. The teaser’s title – “(b)usted” – adds more fuel to this theory.

The phone shown in the sketch also features a few familiar Nothing design elements. The company’s signature transparent back panel features exposed internal details and what appears to be a single rear camera.

Co-founder Akis Evangelidis was tight-lipped that the launch of the CMF Phone 2 Pro today with its current specs will push its price to around Rs. 30,000-35,000 (~$317 – ~$370), which is well above the segment the brand is targeting.

At the same time, Nothing emphasized that new smartphones are still on the way. The company has already started selling two upcoming products under the Pokémon-inspired codenames Jumpluff and Blastoise, while leaker Yogesh Brar has claimed that existing CMF phone projects have been switched to the flagship Nothing brand.

If true, the new tease could be one of the former CMF projects reborn as the ‘Nothing’ phone. At a lower price, the Nothing Phone 4b could make sense as a replacement for the device originally slated to launch under the CMF banner.

For now, Nothing isn’t saying anything officially, but between the “4b” pen, the “(b)usted” title, and an apparent budget-driven design, the clues are starting to clearly shape what Nothing has in store.
