iOS 27 makes it easier to update the Apple TV app

In addition to major changes to Siri and Apple Intelligence, iOS 27 is packed with great quality-of-life improvements. One change that’s gone under the radar is that iOS 27 makes it easier to update your Apple TV software.

As seen on social networks today By Aaron PerrisiOS 27 adds support for installing Apple TV software updates through the Home app on iPhone.

This means that if Apple releases a new version of tvOS, you no longer have to physically go to your Apple TV to update it. You can now do this by opening the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, selecting Apple TV, and installing the update from there. This is very similar to the process of installing a HomePod software update.

It’s a small change, but it will make it easier to stay up to date with Apple TV software updates. You can, of course, also rely on automatic updates, but this is not always a reliable system.

iOS 27 is currently available to developers in beta. Just Apple was released iOS 27 beta 2 today. Apple said the public beta version will be available to everyone in July, and then later this fall.
