Paul Meade, Apple’s vice president responsible for the Vision Pro headset, is leaving the company to join OpenAI’s hardware team. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Meade is also said to be leading the development of artificial intelligence-powered smart glasses Apple plans to introduce next year. The expensive Vision Pro wasn’t a hit, but Apple hopes more affordable smart glasses will follow Help compete with wearables from Meta.
Gurman considers this move as a by-product Approaching Apple CEO John Ternusand Ternus’ decision to shake up its hardware engineering group left some of the company’s vice presidents feeling out of place.
Meanwhile, OpenAI is already working with former Apple chief designer Jony Ive on an artificial intelligence device claimed by CEO Sam Altman. It’s more peaceful and quiet than the iPhoneAlthough last fall’s reports suggested that the company struggling to get the details right.
