Make a joke about how big Microsoft’s cuts are, even affecting companies that aren’t part of Microsoft. Oh wait, that might actually be what happened.
Assembly PR agency, whose biggest client is Microsoft, is laying off staff today, according to Bloomberg industry insider Jason Schreier.
In a post on BlueskySchreier says:
“Massive Xbox layoffs won’t happen until after the end of the fiscal year, but the company is already ending contracts and cutting vendors. So Assembly, Xbox’s main PR agency, is laying people off today.”
Assembly media planning, communications, marketing research, etc. appears to be responsible for a fairly wide range of services including However, as to the full extent of his ties to Microsoft, I haven’t been able to find much for the public beyond Schreier’s comment above.
However, Xbox is undergoing a significant overhaul, according to CEO Asha Sharma trying to make the business more profitable. According to Schreier, Microsoft is terminating contracts and cutting vendors, which has resulted in Assembly laying off employees due to declining business.
It’s hard to know what to say about the layoffs, because I’m sure we can all agree that they suck, regardless of company. I hope those affected can land on their feet.

If that were true, it would be a disastrous decision, especially considering the time and investment that went into the game and how promising it is.
It’s an exhausting time to be a fan of anything lately; skyrocketing prices take the joy out of otherwise fun hobbies. That’s not to say we can’t still enjoy things like the game, but the high prices certainly put a damper on things.
With all that in mind, let me know what you think in the comments, because honestly, I’m sick of all the negativity about the Xbox lately.
