Although WhatsApp status Stories aren’t as central to WhatsApp as they are to other Meta products, it seems the company is working to give the feature a more central role in the messaging app.
A few weeks ago, WABetaInfo noted that the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android hinted that the app would bring Status updates to the main Chat list view.

The tray in the navigation bar is designed to work in the same way as the one available in the Updates tab. It displays status updates sorted by connection relevance, and priority will be given to those with whom users interact the most. So the most important updates will appear first in the list. This will ensure faster access to the most relevant updates. At the bottom of the tray, users can find an access point to view hidden status updates. These are user-muted status updates.
Also like Instagram, WhatsApp’s Status updates disappear after 24 hours and has several creative tools that allow users to add stickers, music and other effects to their posts.
As with most features mentioned in beta versions of WhatsApp, there is no official release schedule. However, Meta is now referring to it on both iOS and Android devices, so it’s likely that it won’t be long before the official launch.
