Gemini replaces the assistant it’s been a learning process for all of us involved, but the good news is that it gets better all the time. In the latest update series Google Shares are on the way for Gemini Home, we learn about many Gemini-related adjustments, and the biggest takeaway for you here is that Google is focused on improving Gemini’s ability to understand both what you’re saying and what you’re trying to do.
Have you ever asked a Gemini something deadly simple and it took forever for them to answer you? If you are used to it asks your smart speakers things like what time it is, Google says those answers should come faster now. On the other hand, Gemini should also start to recognize your speech patterns, so if you’ve been talking for quite a long time, expect Gemini to be better at waiting for you to finish before you interrupt.
Context has always been important to Gemini, and Home works to better integrate contextual cues, understanding which devices you’re trying to control, even if they’re not explicitly named. A similar improvement comes to how Gemini drives notes and listsbetter understanding of instructions for updating lists, including complex multi-step commands. If there’s a bug in Gemini and you’re acting like it can’t find your listing, don’t worry—Google says that’s fixed, too.

In addition, we should expect fewer errors when asking to play specific songs – plus, you’ll be better at actually stopping the music when you want to.
On the app side of Google Home, Google is making some tweaks to the thermostat slider that professional installers should appreciate, and the iOS version has a few fixes for camera control. The biggest one here, however, is the app’s ability to set things like content filters, screen time limits, and usage rules for controlled accounts, guests, and other Home users.
All of these changes should now be available for Gemini for Home users.
