It is the first of the month, that is Netflix has added a significant number of new movies and shows. Some highlights include Creed movies, Friday Night Lights, The Karate Kid franchise and the first five seasons Hawaii Five-0. Look out for new movies coming later this month, including Office Romance and Little Brother.
As for the thriller section, here are a few movies to watch this week. My top pick is the Academy Award-nominated director’s latest crime thriller. My other two films are completely opposite. One is a disturbing psychological thriller featuring two familiar faces, and the other is a remarkable book-to-screen adaptation.

The Girl on the Train
Based on the best-selling novel
The Girl on the Train he walked like that It ends with us he managed to escape. What do I mean? not like The Girl on the Train was the first The movie will be based on the book. I tend to focus more on the thriller style – mostly female-oriented beach reads. Hoover’s books continue to be box office hits. in 2016 The Girl on the Train proved that there is an audience for this type of thriller.
Based on the novel by Paula Hawkins The Girl on the Train Emily Blunt plays Rachel Watson, an alcoholic divorcee who recently lost her job. To pass the time, Rachel takes a train and imagines the new life of her ex-husband Tom (Justin Theroux) and his new wife Anna (Rebecca Ferguson). One day, Rachel witnesses a disturbing incident in the backyard of Scott (Luke Evans) and Megan Hipwell (Haley Bennett). The authorities don’t believe him because of his alcoholism, so Rachel will need more proof than her words.
The Girl on the Train has all the essentials of a page-turner thriller. There are a few twists that will make you question what is true and what is false. It’s a story of deception and obsession that weaves sexual tension and disturbing violence into its storyline. Blunt gives a convincing performance as an alcoholic looking for answers at work and in his personal life. In less than two hours, The Girl on the Train certainly delivers everything you want from an entertaining thriller.

Good Son
Kevin McCallister is in bad shape
If your kids enjoy it Home Alone franchise, then don’t let them watch it Good Son. Speaking from experience, this movie should be consumed by teenagers and adults who are at least 17 years old. I saw this movie as a kid and it shook me to the core. I’d still recommend it because it’s truly one of the most shocking performances from an actor you’d never expect to get the role.
After the death of his mother, 10-year-old Mark Evans (Elijah Wood) is sent to spend winter vacation with his uncle Wallace (Daniel Hugh Kelly) and aunt Susan (Wendy Crewson). Mark is also reunited with his two young cousins, Henry (Macaulay Culkin) and Connie (Quinn Culkin). Mark quickly realizes that Henry may be a demon trapped in the body of a 10-year-old boy. Henry is fascinated by death and facilitates several nefarious acts, including mass carjackings. When Henry takes a look at his own family, it’s up to Mark to stop it before it causes tragedy.
Home alone 2 is my favorite Christmas movie. Imagine being a kid watching Kevin McCallister Good Son tries to kill his sister. Frankly, it’s disturbing. You cannot see what Kalki is doing as a devil’s child. I’ll let you judge that for yourself; I think you will agree with me.

Dead man’s wire
Inspired by a real conflict
Gus Van Sant is too talented to sit on the sidelines for long. Superintendent Van Sant Good Will Hunting and MilkHe last shot the film in 2018 Don’t worry, he won’t walk far. he did not make another film until Dead man’s wireIt had a festival premiere in 2025 before being shown in cinemas in January 2026. That’s an unacceptable amount of time without a Van Sant film. Get better, Hollywood.
Dead man’s wire Inspired by the true story of Tony Kiritsis, played by Bill Skarsgård. In February 1977, mortgage broker Richard Hall (Dacre Montgomery) forecloses after Tony loses money on a deal brokered by Richard’s father. Tony serves Richard as a dead man’s key with a sawed-off shotgun. The ensuing confrontation makes headlines, with Tony trying to convince the public of what led to his breaking point.
The movie is based on a true story, so it can follow the plot of real life events. However, it’s a genius idea for a thriller – a mentally unstable man seeks revenge against the corporation that oppressed him. You might even find sympathy for Tony for Skarsgård’s mesmerizing performance.
