Web browsers are our window to everything on the web. That’s why all the top AI companies have made the effort to run their own web browsers – allowing them to better see and understand what you’re looking at. However, breaking web browsers is a difficult habit, and as a result, ChatGPT Atlas – OpenAI’s own first AI-powered web browser that many may not have known existed – next month is setting.

ChatGPT has its reasons for killing its browser, but don’t let this decision convince you that AI browsers are doomed. In fact, they will only become a more ingrained part of our lives, as web browsers themselves will eventually become.

As ChatGPT Atlas closes, here are some of the best AI web browsers you can try.

Which company do you think builds the best AI browser?

Google Chrome

Google Chrome needs no introduction. It was already the most popular web browser of all time, and all the other alternatives were scrambling to make room for themselves. But Google has further increased these divisions by integrating Gemini directly into its browser. Gemini now sits in the top right corner of the browser, where you can chat about any of your tabs for product comparisons, customizing recipes, getting technical information, and more.

Every browser these days has an AI sidebar, but Chrome improves them Gemini Live helps you interact with AI in real time with integration. Google has already enabled Gemini’s agent mode in Chrome, letting it manage tabs and do things on your behalf. Except for the agency features, everything is bundled for free, so you don’t need to spend an extra penny.

The browser Company’s current focus is Dia. It’s based on the foundation set by Arc, and you’ll see a lot of borrowing when using Dia, from quick shortcuts to joining meetings and managing tabs. While it doesn’t scream that it’s an AI browser, it does have some smart features, and in my books, it’s a better kind of app.

For starters, there’s an AI sidebar to summarize long text for you or even give you tips from a YouTube video. However, its stronger differentiator is the Special Abilities feature it allows you to create a shortcut command to perform a series of actions. For example, I set it up to browse my favorite tech websites and give me a summary of everything new every morning when I run it.

It brings the best of Arc and modern AI browsers without being too in-your-face, and that balance is its greatest strength.

Comet of Confusion

It is the Comet of Confusion is the most artificially intelligent web browser to date you will meet. I’ve spent quite a bit of time with it in its early days, and I’m very impressed with the way you can not only see your tabs, but interact with them in real-time as if the screen in front of you were playing itself. And it’s gotten better since then.

The company has a product called Computer ($200/month feature), which is essentially an AI orchestrator that runs your tasks in the background, so you don’t even have to have your laptop open. If it can’t talk to an app in the background, it can (with your permission) look inside Comet and navigate apps autonomously. The first time you see it in action, you really feel like you’ve stepped into a sci-fi movie set in the distant future.

Microsoft Edge

For those deeply familiar with the Microsoft ecosystem through Office or school, Edge feels like a natural addition to your browser setup. Like most other modern browsers, it has a context-aware sidebar that can retrieve information from your open tabs to simplify long texts or compare things for you.

Although Microsoft Edge may not look modern with its traditional layout, it is one of the most efficient Chromium-based browsers not only on Windows but also on Mac OS. If you ignore Microsoft nagging you to try their other products, Edge remains a great web browser on its own.

Brave

Brave browser featuring Leo AI on Android

Brave For a long time, privacy has maintained its first positionand this also applies to its AI integration. Its Leo AI is capable of doing all the regular tasks you’d expect from other browsers, such as summarizing pages and rewriting text, but protecting your privacy. It even lets you choose the language model you want without locking you into a single provider, letting you choose the one that best suits your needs.

However, Leo AI locks several advanced features, including newer LLMs, behind a paid tier that costs $15 per month. You’ll also find that Brave’s AI isn’t as capable as other, more mainstream alternatives, and that it doesn’t integrate much across services. But if you have minimal expectations, it will do the job perfectly.

Arc (word of honor)

Arc was the poster child for The Browser Company, which made lofty claims about transforming web browsers and delivered on them. I’ve been a fan of Arc for a long time, and even though the company has stopped active development, it’s still around and used by those who find that every other browser from Arc isn’t good enough.

Its AI Max features are all about enhancing your experience instead of just slapping a chatbot on the browser. I like that it auto-orders tab titles and uploaded file names for easier identification, along with direct integration for various AI chatbots like ChatGPT in the search bar. If you don’t mind if it never gets a new feature, then it might be the web browser you’ve settled on.
