Motorola’s Razr series continues to be a favorite of mine, and this year Motorola has stepped up its camera gameit offers better and brighter sensors with better dynamic range and incredible zoom. But better sensors are only part of the equation: you also need to make sure your cameras are built and engineered to help you take better photos.
These are some of the features I changed on my camera 2026 Motorola Razr models to give me the best experience. Note that this is available for many functions Razr Fold and/or Razr Ultra 2026but may also be available on Razr Plus 2026 and Razr 2026.
Color
Similar to the phone’s display color profile, Motorola lets you change the color processing in the Razr’s images. You can find this by tapping the glitter icon at the top of the camera viewfinder. Here you will find three options: Naturally, Aliveand Signature Stylealthough I will mainly focus on the first two.
The Natural mode offers a “true” color style, while the Vivid option increases saturation to make colors really pop. You can’t edit any of these options, but I find that the Natural color style offers fantastic color reproduction on the Razr Ultra 2026 and Razr Fold.
As with the display’s color profile, I don’t care for the Vivid color option because it oversaturates images, though that will depend on your preference.
You can also choose a Signature Style; however, it’s a bit more involved and requires you to train the camera by editing images in the Google Photos app.
Composition
Most smartphone cameras don’t have compositing features enabled by default, but as someone who’s constantly testing different phones, I like to turn them on to help me compose similar shots between models. In the 2026 Razr series, you’ll have to go Camera Settings > Shooting Assistant to allow Auxiliary network and Straightener.
The assistive grid will provide a visual rule of thirds that is great for composing images, while the leveler will help keep your images level with the horizon.
Cover screen and preview
One of the advantages of a foldable phone is the clamshell screen. In the Razr series, external displays offer a significant boost with features you can easily turn on or off. In the upper left corner of the camera viewfinder, you will find a rectangular icon. Tapping it will cycle through two functions (on the Razr Fold, the screen must be on), one of which enables the external viewfinder. This allows people to see themselves while you’re taking photos and makes it easy for them to style themselves however they want.
Another cover screen feature includes cartoons that you can use to attract the attention of young children. you enter Camera Settings > Camera Animationyou can select the cartoons you want on the external screen or just shuffle them.
I also like to change There is no product option for External Screen View In the Camera Settings, on Razr 2026 flip phones, you’ll be able to view the entire viewfinder, not just the square-cut version.
On both the Razr flip phones and the Razr Fold, I’m the key Instant View If you don’t want to turn on live preview, the option should turn on the quick preview of captured images on the cover screen.
In the case of the Razr Fold, you can take this even further by enabling secondary viewing on the internal display. This only works when the phone is on: tap the icon at the top left of the Camera viewfinder to activate the preview. Every time you take a photo, it displays the image on one side and keeps the viewfinder open on the other side, so you can continue taking photos or view scenes side-by-side.
Selfie and portrait
On the Razr Fold, you can take better selfies with the rear camera sensors by tapping the little man icon in the upper left corner of the camera viewfinder (when the phone is connected). This will prompt you to open your phone while keeping the camera viewfinder on the external display.
However, you can also choose whether your selfies appear as they appear in the viewfinder or in real life. This essentially changes the perspective of the selfie, and it’s entirely up to you (I like the reflection of the image myself). To change this, go to Camera Settings and change it Selfie mirror turn it on or off depending on your preference.
Portrait Fashion is a way for smartphones to mimic DSLR cameras by applying a bokeh effect around the subject. On Razr phones, you can adjust this effect by going to Portrait in the Camera app carousel and tapping the ⨍ icon. You can use the slider to change the intensity of the bokeh effect from 1 to 6 depending on your preference.
Additionally, you can use the Portrait beautifier to change your look by tapping on the face icon. This includes options to smooth your face, tone, slim down and even make your eyes look bigger, although I prefer to leave this feature aside and let my natural beauty speak for itself 💅🏾.
Camcorder mode
Camcorder mode It’s a unique feature for flip phones, and Motorola gives you some level of control over it. Go to Camera Settings and tap Camcorder mode to open the menu. You can make things easier by turning it on Automatic recordingit starts recording automatically when you tilt the phone 90 degrees or by starting a short 3-second timer.
In addition, the Razr 2026 series has new features Rotate to enlarge a feature that will zoom in or out when you tilt the phone to either side. And thanks Horizon Lockthe video stays still even when tilted to zoom, which is pretty neat.
Gestures
Gestures are one of the best things about owning a Motorola phone. you can activate Quick shot A feature in Settings or Camera Settings that allows you to open the camera by simply turning the phone twice. You can also control which camera opens: rear camera or selfie camera. On Razr flip phones, you can also choose to open the standard camera or Mirror mode.
There is also the Razr series Air Gestures for a camera that only allows you to take pictures by pointing your palm at the camera. A short countdown will begin to give you time to position yourself for the photo.
You can take it even further with palm-based video control. Show your palm to start recording a video, then punch the camera to stop recording. When the phone recognizes a fist, you’ll see a big fist icon with a circular countdown. I find it quite aggressive and I’ll see a punch when I’m not punching, so I’m leaving this feature.
Video
When it comes to video recording, I find it best to leave the resolution at 4K and 30fps for most scenarios. Fortunately, you can easily change the resolution and frame rate from the viewfinder. You can also go up to 8K at 30fps, but that’s overkill for most situations.
I will say this while supporting the Razr Ultra and Razr Plus 2026 Dolby VisionI would push him away. I don’t like processing colors because they often look too saturated and the lighting is a bit overexposed. But if you have a Razr Fold, you can find an additional button in the video viewfinder in the form of a video recorder. Tap this to activate Video Enhancement Enginethis greatly enhances color and tone while minimizing noise.
Additional video settings can be found in the Camera app settings, which I recommend enabling Automatic frame rate for better low-light video, AI Audio for Audio Zoom capabilities (directs the microphone to a magnified area) and Effective Videos for smaller video sizes.
Situational characteristics
Razr phones have a few more situational camera features that I would recommend keeping in your back pocket, as they can come in handy when you find yourself in a situation that requires them. Here are some features you’ll want to remember to use:
- Action shot: If you’re trying to capture a fast-moving subject, tap the running person icon in the viewfinder. This increases shutter speed and uses AI magic to keep the subject in focus, making it a more reliable option than the main camera mode. Only the Razr Fold allows you to zoom when using the Action Shot.
- Group shot: Like Best Pixel Shot, this will ensure everyone in the shot has their eyes open so they all look their best.
- Photo booth: This fun feature automatically takes 4 photos and arranges them into a collage. You can then edit said collage by adding additional photos and changing the layout.
- Active Images: This saves a short clip of the scene while taking a picture. When you view it in Google Photos, you can play the video (which also includes audio) and even save it as a video, GIF, or separate still photo (without adding Motion). Unfortunately, this feature doesn’t stay on, so you’ll have to turn it on every time you open the camera.
- Horizon Lock: This is a pretty cool video feature that keeps the video horizon-locked no matter how much you move or tilt. This is especially good for fast or sports videos and gives you a super stable clip.
Some of these features are hidden in the More section of the camera carousel. However, if you want to access them quickly, you can tap the pencil icon to move them to the main carousel.
