Last year, Notion expanded its productivity suite to include Notion Mail, an AI-powered email client. Today, the company announced that it is shutting down its Notion Mail inbox service this fall.
Notion Mail will be shutting down on September 22nd
Notion is primarily a notes and tasks platform with AI features. In addition to the flagship Notion app, the company also offers Notion Calendar, Notion Mail, and Notion Web Clipper.
But at the end of this year, Notion Mail is gone. Service only has been activated in April 2025, but will be discontinued later this year on September 22.
Here’s a statement explaining why Notion is shutting down Notion Mail this fall:
We’re shutting down the Notion Mail inbox on web, desktop, and iOS on September 22nd.
We launched Notion Mail with the belief that your inbox should think like you—more personal to the way you work, and more capable with AI over time.
As Notion agents become more proficient, we’ve seen more users delegate email workflows to them. Today, more than half of Notion Mail users manage emails without ever opening their inbox. So we’re ready to use agents to manage your inbox.
We’re grateful to each of you for building your daily business around Notion Mail and trusting us with something as important as your email. More to come!
The company provides three dates in a help article that provide more details about the upcoming shutdown:
- Starting June 25: Only export your Notion Mail data via the app or the web.
- September 21: Last day to save anything you want to save.
- September 22: Notion Mail closes. Any data you don’t save will be deleted forever.
